AYF: Brief Coverage Descriptions of All 5 Insurance Policies
Accident Insurance
Pays medical bills on behalf of injured participants on an excess basis after family health insurance, if any, has first responded. If there is no existing family health insurance, benefits are paid on a primary basis.
Covered persons include tackle and flag football players, cheerleaders, coaches, managers, officials, employees, volunteers, staff members, independent contractors, team workers, media personnel, and VIPs of the participating organization or plan sponsor.
Covered activities are scheduled, approved, and adult supervised team or association activities including but not limited to tryouts, practice, play, tournaments, clinics, fundraisers, award banquets, team outings, and parades including travel to and from the place of such covered activity. Coverage is included for set-up, tear-down, and management of each event.
Accident Medical Expense Benefits (full excess):
Maximum benefit amount: $100,000
Deductible (per injury): choice of $0, $100, $250, or $500
Accidental Death & Specific Losses: $10,000

General Liability
Responds to certain lawsuits alleging bodily injury, property damage, personal injury (ex: slander, libel), and advertising injury. Most covered claims arise from bodily injury to a spectator or participant. The policy pays for legal defense and any adverse jury verdict or settlement amount.
Coverage is provided to the association as an entity and respective directors, officers, employees, and volunteers while operating within scope of official duties.
Covered applies to activities necessary and incidental to conduct of practices, exhibitions, scheduled and post-season games or competitions, and functions like meetings, awards banquets, and fund-raisers. Coverage also applies to the ownership, maintenance, or use of football fields, stands, and playing areas of AYF or AYC members.

$5,000,000 Each Occurrence Option: This option is only available if required by written contact which must be reviewed and approved by the insurance carrier.
Sex Abuse/Molestation: As regards coverage for Sex Abuse & Molestation, coverage shall not apply if the insured conference/association/team does not meet the following risk management guidelines:
- Have a system in place and running criminal background checks on paid staff and volunteers.
- Have written policies and procedures that include sexual abuse & molestation prevention.
- Have written procedures that include a response plan for allegations of sexual abuse & molestation. The plan must specify that law enforcement is to be contacted in the event of an allegation.
Waiver Release Requirements: Coverage for participant liability is voided unless you have a system in place to collect waiver/release forms on all youth players.
Non-Owned & Hired Auto Liability: Provides coverage if the insured organization is sued as a result of liability arising out of the use of an auto on insured organization business if such auto is not owned by the insured organization (ex: parent’s auto, auto that is borrowed from a church or is hired from a rental car company.) Coverage is excluded for 15 passenger vans. There is no coverage for the driver of any auto while transporting youth or adult participants. This policy does not cover physical damage to the non-owned or hired auto itself and, as a result, separate arrangements must be made for such coverage.
Major Exclusions in this Policy:
- The use of owned automobiles, buses, watercraft, and aircraft
- Property of others in the care, custody, and control of the insured
- Injury or death of an employee
- Cheerleading Pyramids over 2-1/2 persons high and cheerleading activities using trampolines and springboards.

Directors & Officers Liability
Responds to certain lawsuits alleging “wrongful acts” such as discrimination based on age, sex, race, or handicap; failure to follow your own rules or bylaws when making administrative decisions; and wrongful suspension or termination of league personnel or players.
Coverage is extended to the covered association as an entity and respective directors, officers, employees, and volunteers.
Limits: $1,000,000 or $2,000,000
In addition, the policy includes the following coverage enhancements:
Publishers Injury:
- Includes Electronic Media Liability for content on website and social media
- $100,000 sublimit
Cyber Privacy and Client Identity Theft included:
- Network Remediation – $5,000
- Loss or theft of client personal information – $2,500 per person with $25,000 aggregate

Crime
Pays for financial loss due to insider:
- embezzlement of funds
- improper payment of personal expenses from league accounts or credit card charges
- theft of other property
Pays for financial loss due to outsider:
